CAMPING
Camping gives youth the opportunity to grow and have fun like no other experience, and far too few kids get the opportunity these day. Camp Wassatoga offers three different styles of camping to meet the needs and experience of campers and leaders.
-
The Lodge - If you or your youth are new too camping, then The Lodge may be a good fit for you. Our Lodge is a ranch-style building with a large group room for games, activities, meals, and sleeping. It also features a large kitchen, three private bathrooms including one that is fully ADA compliant, and a long outdoor deck with a view of the lake. The Lodge is also climate controlled with both heating and air conditioning. Centrally located, The Lodge is has an outdoor firepit, and is a short walk to the Lakefront, Chapel, and Meadow featuring volleyball, gaga ball, and tether ball.
-
Large Group Campsite - Maybe your group has more experience camping but you also like a few amenities, then this site may be right for you. The Large Group Campsite can accommodate groups up to 50 people in size. The site also features a 20' square pavilion with electricity and two cooking firepits, a handwashing station with running water, and a central firepit for great evening campfires and activities. Future plans for this campsite will include multiple cabins.
-
Primitive Campsites - Is your group up for leave-no-trace camping where you pack in all that your need, then are primitive sites are made for you. Located in the western part of the camp these sites feature a central firepit and a mowed area for you to set up your tents and dining flies for a back to nature experience.
HIKING
Camp Wassatoga has several trails to explore the far reaches of the property and enjoy the quiet of nature. While on our trails you might see some of the whitetail deer, wild turkeys, herons, or box turtles that call Camp Wassatoga their home. Oh, and keep an eye on the sky and you might spot one of the American Bald Eagles that next each year at Lake Sara!
CANOEING
Camp Wassatoga is located on the west end of Lake Sara in the no-wake fishing area, making it ideal for canoeing. Nothing beats exploring the shoreline or catching a big bass from on of our 17-foot 2-3 person canoes. We provide the paddles and lifejackets, but your group needs to provide the canoe-experienced adult supervision. Also our lifejackets are in the most common sizes, so if you have a youth or adult needing a very small or very large lifejacket, they will need to bring their own. (additional fee for this activity)
ARCHERY
Learn a new skill or test your skill level on our archery course. We provide longbows, small compound bows (for the younger archer), arrows, targets, and a large backstop so your entire group can have fun. Adult supervision is required for this activity. (additional fee for this activity)
VOLLEYBALL
Have fun on our new sand volleyball court for just a friendly game or a tournament of champions!
TETHER BALL
Ready for a little one-on-one competition? Nothing beats a fast-paced game of Tether Ball!
GAGA BALL
Jump in the pit and have a ball with this game for any number of players.
